![]() ![]() Dr. Marc Kramer is the emergency and after-hours veterinarian for AEAMC and handles critical cases when the office is closed. He loves his work; it shows in his dedication to helping the animals; educating himself in new areas of veterinary medicine; and instructing both veterinary students and the public in the care of exotic companion animals.
Working exclusively as an avian & exotic animal veterinarian for his first nine years of practice, Dr. Kramer has dedicated his veterinary career to the care of birds, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, zoo animals, and an assortment of other non-domestic companion animals. He graduated in 1999 with a D.V.M. from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and thereafter completed a one-year avian and exotic specialty internship at the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada. Although full-time with AEAMC for almost eight years, in 2008 he decided to broaden his scope of practice and ventured into other endeavors. He became licensed as a veterinarian in five U.S. states and serves as a highly sought-after per diem vet at exotic animal practices around the country. Additionally, he traveled to Grenada, Trinidad, and Bolivia to teach courses on exotic animal medicine to veterinary students and wildlife veterinarians. Moreover, he took on the huge task of overseeing veterinary operations on the Miami Meow Mobile, a feline spay & neuter mobile clinic in Miami-Dade county. Dr. Kramer performs surgical sterilization on approximately 3500 cats and dogs each year through several different shelter organizations.
On his days off, you might find Dr. Kramer birdwatching deep in the Florida Everglades, road tripping in his 1978 Volkswagen Bus, or geocaching somewhere in the woods.
Throughout his veterinary career, Dr. Kramer has maintained a position on the forefront of veterinary medicine, staying well informed of the rapid advances in exotic pet medicine. He is well prepared to serve South Florida's plethora of non-traditional and exotic pets. His love for these animals, devotion to veterinary medicine, and care of his patients is unending and truly inspiring.
